All roads lead to Rome

Ora B. Jan. 17, 2007

Using historical inquiry,
To better understand,
A combination of modeling,
In all human mind's planned.

One of the principle challenges,
Confronting the integrity,
Expansion created,
Political anthropology.

Construction of the Roman road,
Network subsidized centralization,
Economic activity and political power,
From a center point combination.

As Rome expanded,
An increasing need for firm,
Literally a calcification of Empire,
Critical factor in the success term.

Framwork demonstrates the path,
The cost of transportation,
The built environment,
Spatial self-organization.

Many of the major empires,
Share a common source of energy,
As describe by historian,
Laying the ground work for economies.

PS. A short note about myself.

Dear sir/madam,
I am not in Rome but Hawaii and prefer using English if you don't mind.

Enclosed is the link to a website where I regularly post my poetry but obtain your link from one of the column you posted in thaipoem. Thank you very much for having me here, very appreciate your warm welcoming. May you be blessed.

Dear ma'am,

Yes, I sure can understand Thai.

I love everything about English poetry read and write with passion but reluctantly call myself a poet.

I personally do not know anybody in here neither read any Thai novels of yours but happened to follow the link as I mentioned up there.

After left Thailand over ten years I almost never read nor write Thai and one day I realized my language was getting stiff, so I came online searched something to read started with the news but only to find out that those news I read made me upset and depressed so I quit.

Later on, from spoke with my sister's friend who lives in Los Angeles, he recommended me a well-known website eventhough I didn't really like it that much but found a few Thai magazines to read online and one of them was Yingthai (I especially liked its name). So that was a few years back and the starting point for me in the Thai poetry.

To make a long story short, after read Thai poems for a while I fell in love with it and wanted to be able to write. So I hooked with a kind gentleman met in that magazine webboard, he taught me the basic of Thai poetry started with Klonpaaet.

Shortly after that I got to know one of his friends in the poetry realm, he is very good at Kaap (the same person I join at his website nowadays) and so kind enough helping me to better understand words, forms and so on. I have so much fun writing, exchanging experiences, ideas in all areas with him in the web.

Talked about a writer in Hawaii.
There are eight major islands of Hawaii (Hawaiian Windward Islands) listed here from North to South are:- Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaho'olawi, Maui and Hawai'i (also known as the Big Island). A writer you mentioned may live on one of these islands.

For me, we are living in a small town of Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. When compare to other big cities, there are not many Thais in this town and none of them I know personally.

It is my pleasure and an honest to know you.

Warmest regards and may God bless.

Hi Ora B.

I'm glad to hear you've found out Thai websites in order to read Thai poetry. My English is not good, but I'll try. Belows are my Thai poetries for you.

Thank you for a nice poem.

So glad that I found new friends in the very nice website like this. It is opening up my world and get to know more people.

To your question, I studied law and my family own a business so I'm pretty much busy working most of the time, after the work hours I either chat in the Pantip English room for fun or write poetry. Every once in a while may go to the beach or fishing on the weekend or long weekend alike. The weather is nice all year round but in the Winter like this moment a bit too cold due to the snow up on the mountain sends the chill air down below, plus our home is about over fourteen thousand feet above the sea level so the temperatures lower than down below.

Thank you for your friendship, will talk to you more in the future to come, please take care and may God bless.

Have a nice day!

All roads lead to Rome II

Throughout history,
Maritime transport was considerably,
More efficient than land transport,
Of the Roman Empire geography.

Rome developed as a land power,
Not effectively challenging Carthage,
For hegemony over their Mare Nostrum,
Until late in Rome's development stage.

While the Roman roadways,
Fulfilled the normal function of roads,
They did so in a the manner that directed,
Power flows toward Rome mode.

The use of subsidized financing,
Was essential in reshaping economy,
That inhibited the development,
Combined with a design methodology.

The Roman road system,
Served as an example,
To illustrate these mechanisms,
The role to understanding of this historical.

Thank you very much.

I sometimes translate my own poems such as those children and love poems but this one I didn't.

Some poems may be fun to translate and still remain the original moods and sensation but some may not, which unlike translation of a prose and or normal sentenses and story.
Translate a poetry needed to be exact line by line in overall meanings-usually I use a form of Klonpaaet.

Enjoy your working days and have a nice week, pleasure to meet you.
